BEUC, The European Consumer Organisation, is looking to recruit a Financial Services Officer

Reporting to the Legal and Economic Director, the position will involve:

providing intelligence, information and advice to BEUC and BEUC member organisations on consumer issues in EU policies relating to financial services with a focus on financial markets and in particular retail investments;
preparing consultation and position papers and technical briefings on these issues;
representing BEUC and its member organisations in external meetings and conferences;
maintaining and developing contacts with EU officials, MEPs and other relevant stakeholders;

The main qualifications we are looking for are:
a Master degree (a degree in Economics majoring in Finance would be an advantage);
a strong technical knowledge and understanding of financial issues and financial regulation including MIFID, KID for PRIPS; IMD, third pillar pensions;

at least 3 years of professional experience in the financial services area;
the ability to write and communicate well in English and preferably also in French and/or in German – knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage;

an initial working knowledge of the EU institutions;
a proven ability to understand, appreciate and explain the technical issues which arise in the financial services area;
a proven interest in understanding, appreciating and articulating the consumer interest in the financial services area;
ability to work well with people from different backgrounds;
team player;
ability to perform under pressure;
well organised.
